The primary purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and oversee all quality, environmental health safety and energy aspects of VELUX Greenwood LLC. This position reports directly to the President of VELUX Greenwood LLC.
Purpose:
- Develops and formulates long and short range programs and objectives, working with company officers and senior staff members.
- Plans, directs and oversees the quality assurance program to prevent and eliminate defects in new or existing products.
- Plans, directs and oversees ISO 9001 activities and certification at all manufacturing facilities.
- Plans, directs and oversees environment, energy, health, and safety, in all areas.
- Plans, directs and oversees ISO 14001 activities and certification at all manufacturing facilities in North America.
- Plans, directs and oversees OHSAS 18001 activities and certification at all manufacturing facilities in North America.
- Plans, directs and oversees environmental and occupational health and safety activities and regulatory compliance at all manufacturing, distribution and sales facilities in North America.
- Actively participates in New Product Development and introduction including Built-In Quality, safe equipment design, manufacturing safety and energy efficiency.
Roles and Responsibilities:
General
- Implements approved policies, procedures and guidelines within the area of responsibility.
- Ensures safe working conditions within each physical area of responsibility.
- Ensures all subordinates are using safe working behaviors.
- Ensures all activities are conducted with the corporate sustainability policy in mind.
- Constructively collaborates with other functional area managers.
- Coordinates and consolidates functional area plans, expense budgets and investment budgets.
- Executes functional area plans and practices to constantly improve business results.
- Directs and monitors direct reports to accomplish the goals of the functional area and business plans.
- Proactively identifies, addresses and reports issues that prevent meeting the goals of the functional area and business plans.
- Ensures constructive and effective people development, management and appraisal within the area of responsibility.
- Monitors KPI’s and adjusts plans accordingly to meet functional area goals.
Quality Assurance
- Understands and confirms corporate Quality requirements and takes appropriate actions within the functional area to ensure these requirements are met.
- Implements and maintains Quality documentation and Quality procedures.
- Confers with internal technical resources about quality assurance of new components and products to prevent or eliminate quality issues.
- Confers with representatives of material and component vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of the vendor to meet orders and vendor quality standards.
- Qualifies and audits new vendors and materials using corporate agreements and tools.
- Coordinates external audit activities to ensure product certifications are achieved.
- Oversees ERP data management.
- Coordinates and consolidates Quality reporting for the use of senior management
- Plans, directs and oversees problem solving related to product form, fit, and function.
- Plans, directs and oversees cost out projects.
Environment, Health, Safety and Energy
- Understands and confirms corporate Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy requirements and takes appropriate actions within the functional area to ensure these requirements are met.
- Coordinates and consolidates Environmental, Health, Safety and Energy reporting for the use of senior management.
- Responds to complaints, conducts investigations and recommends solutions to eliminate or minimize environmental problems.
Environment and Energy
- Conducts projects to eliminate CO2
- Conducts projects to achieve zero waste
- Conducts projects to share sustainable innovations
- Achieves environmental regulatory compliance
- Determines environmental training requirements and develops appropriate training for employees
- Prepares environmental plans and monitors compliance across the organization and within regulatory frameworks..
- Performs corporate and regulatory data gathering and reporting including recording of utility usage.
- Executes corporate sustainability projects.
Health and Safety
- Conducts projects to eliminate accidents
- Conducts projects to provide healthy workspaces
- Determines occupational safety and health training requirements and develops appropriate training for employees
- Prepares safety plans and monitors compliance across the organization.
- Ensures security of the facilities, employees and grounds.
- Performs corporate and regulatory data gathering and reporting.
Product Development
- Participates in Product Development according to the requirements of VELUX Stage Gate.
Monthly Salary Range: $10,528 - $13,160 (Compensation is based on the skills and experience of the candidate)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree is required
- Ten years of supervision and/or management experience is required. Quality experience in manufacturing is preferred. EHSE&E is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing long and short range programs and objectives is required.
- Experience with external regulatory and certification agencies is required.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate people is required.
- Strong planning, prioritizing and goal setting skills is required.
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills is required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills is required.
- A working knowledge of ERP is required. SAP is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required.
- Strong time management, planning, prioritizing, and goal setting skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, determine project urgency and create detailed action plans is required.
- Excellent communication skill, both oral and written is required.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate people is required.
- The desire and ability to work in a manufacturing team environment is required.
- Domestic and international travel is required (extended periods of travel may be required on occasion).
- Ability to project a positive and professional image.
- Ability to perform the essential functions assigned to the position.
