Pay Range
$83,200.00-$114,400.00 Annual
This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
The Logistics Category Manager – Leases/Warehouse is responsible for collaborating with JM Business Units (BUs) to understand their warehousing needs and to identify, communicate, and negotiate solutions. This role involves developing, owning, and executing the warehousing strategy and negotiations, continuously supporting the business unit’s evolving strategic objectives. Additionally, the Category Manager will work with other Logistics Team leaders to drive continuous improvement efforts in logistics.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Collaborate with the team to develop, execute, and implement the North American logistics operational excellence strategy and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost productivity while maintaining service levels
- Understand the warehousing needs for new leases or lease extensions of JM’s Business Units, develop parameters for leasing solutions, present alternatives, and align on lease negotiations
- Lead discussions with providers on leases, warehouse labor, material handling equipment, and shuttle services to support warehouse operations
- Lead the negotiation of all North American warehousing agreements, optimizing the warehouse network, eliminating redundancy, and enhancing service offerings while optimizing cost productivity
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external parties regarding warehouse leases and services, managing the relationship throughout its lifecycle
- Develop, own, execute, and implement sourcing strategies and negotiations for warehousing
- Direct lease and service agreement language, effectively negotiate with providers to maximize service requirements at the lowest cost, and identify and counter missing clauses in agreements
- Build strategies to reduce operational costs and create efficiency improvements, enhancing logistics cost productivity while balancing service
- Simplify and clearly communicate complex logistical concepts internally
- Work and communicate collaboratively across Logistics, Legal, Business Units, and other departments at all organizational levels
- Perform other related duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of supply chain and logistics
- Commercial real estate broker experience is highly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of logistics principles, leases, and warehouse operations
- Advanced contract negotiation skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience in negotiating warehousing agreements
- Ability to produce, analyze, and interpret complex metrics and modeling for network optimization and future requirements
- Ability to apply experience and knowledge in developing and advancing strategic initiatives and cost containment activities
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Advanced knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) such as SAP
- Lean certification experience preferred
- Minimal travel requires 10 to 15 percent per year
- Work environment is typical of an office setting
