Position Title: General Manager – Truss Division
Reports to: Vice President

The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing and construction-driven environment where accuracy, production efficiency, and customer deadlines are critical. The ideal candidate must build strong relationships with builders, contractors, vendors, and coworkers. Success will come to someone who is hands-on, solutions-oriented, and willing to step in wherever needed to ensure operational excellence.
Purpose of Position: Accountable for the overall operation and performance of the Truss Division in a manner consistent with the company’s standards and directives from the Vice President and President. Provide leadership that drives employee engagement, production efficiency, safety compliance, and profitability while delivering high-quality truss products and exceptional customer service.
Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation)
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, rewarding, disciplining associates, and resolving complaints
- Oversee daily truss manufacturing operations including design, production, quality control, and delivery coordination
- Ensure production schedules meet customer deadlines while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Enforce company policies and procedures including sales documentation, contracts, credit policies, and operational compliance
- Manage raw material and finished goods inventory to control waste, shrinkage, and cost
- Maintain operating income through effective cost control, production efficiency, and sales growth initiatives
- Develop, monitor, and manage the Truss Division’s annual budget and P&L performance
- Schedule associate work hours to meet budget guidelines and production demands
- Review financial, sales, and production reports regularly with leadership and provide business updates to the President and Vice President
- Ensure all equipment inspections, maintenance requirements, and safety documentation are completed accurately and in compliance with OSHA standards
- Support and develop the sales team by accompanying sales personnel on customer visits, monitoring sales performance, and recommending pricing or promotional strategies
- Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes, facility conditions, product offerings, and overall division performance

- Strong leadership and supervisory skills including assigning work, coaching, discipline, performance evaluation, and team development
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations, production scheduling, and inventory management practices
- Financial acumen with the ability to interpret P&L statements, budgets, and performance metrics
- Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills to address operational and customer service issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers, employees, and executive leadership
- Proficiency in basic computer systems including Microsoft Office; experience with ERP and truss design software preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional customer service and relationship-building abilities
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and safe lifting techniques
- Ability to meet performance targets while working independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Minimum five (5) years of senior leadership or management experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in construction, building materials, manufacturing, or related industry
- Experience managing profit and loss (P&L) statements and budgeting responsibilities
- Experience leading multi-department teams including production, sales, and operations
- Knowledge of truss manufacturing processes or component manufacturing preferred
- Experience with inventory control, production scheduling, and cost management
- Proficiency in computer systems including Microsoft Office; ERP and truss design software experience preferred
- Must pass a background check and Non-DOT drug test
Physical Demands
- Strength (lift, carry, push, and pull), maximum lift – 100 lbs.; frequently lift/carry – up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit or stand for up to four hours at a time
- Reach overhead to grasp objects
- Manual dexterity
- Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
- Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination
- Must regularly be able to reach overhead
- Must regularly be able to sit, squat, bend, twist, and stand
- Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally
Working Conditions
- Occasionally works near moving machinery, saws, presses, forklifts, and in outside weather conditions
- Works in warehouse environment in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.
- Work in areas with high noise levels
