As the Social Media Specialist for Makita U.S.A you will be at the front lines of our brand’s online presence. In order to increase awareness and drive demand, you will work with our growing team to post daily social media content across all major platforms as well as monitor comments, direct messages, and customer service-related questions, help identify key trends, and keep tabs on trending topics in the industry. You’ll also assist our content creation team on photo and video shoots and ideate campaign strategies for current and new products.
Makita U.S.A.’s social media channels are one of the main points of contact with our brand’s end user, so it is important we use these platforms to creatively and strategically communicate the Makita Advantage. This role is best suited for someone who is well-versed in social media functions and commenting etiquette, as well as scheduling- and performance-tracking software.
Across categories, Makita tools and equipment have leading power and performance but with less noise, lower vibration, reduced weight and superior ergonomics. This combination of performance and comfort is unique in the category, giving users of all types – from pro contractors to DIYers – a complete solution that helps get work done faster and more efficiently.
Essential Job Duties.
- Keep up on social media trends (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X).
- Manage daily social media posts across all platforms.
- Manage comments and direct messages.
- Keep tabs on the performance of Makita’s social media content.
- Schedule and plan social media content through the Hootsuite social media management tool.
- Keep tabs on the performance of sponsored ads on social media.
- Respond and comment on posts, where applicable
- Collaborate with the Customer Service department to provide solutions to inquiries about repairs, promos, and more.
- Recommend, create, and implement tactics to increase followers/subscribers across channels.
- Monitor Makita activity across social media channels. This includes user-generated content and engaging where applicable.
- Collaborate with the Brand team to execute external partnerships and sweepstakes that take place on social media.
- Work with marketing managers to plan live events on social media channels and manage execution (including select on-site events)
- Responsible for protecting the brand while actively promoting the brand to Makita’s target audiences across social media channels.
- Maintain a library of hashtags for use by Makita on social media
- Constantly implement creative, consistent vehicles that fully support the company’s prime objectives with regards to professional users, products and focus.

Skills Required
- Excellent knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and X, as well as target channels including Reddit, and Pinterest.
- Experience in paid boosting on social media (Meta Ad Center)
- Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use social media in order to increase audience, impressions, brand awareness, and lead collection, as well as to drive traffic to targeted websites (makitatools.com)
- Understanding of social media KPIs and basic web traffic metrics
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Contact Management systems; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat. Knowledge of collaborative tools on Microsoft Teams and SharePoint preferred but not required.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position works in an open office setting that is quiet, fast-paced, and fosters continuous learning while operating under high demand/volume. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and printers.
Travel
Travel is rare but may be required for this position.
Education and/or Experience Desired
- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university, or equivalent professional institution. Marketing, journalism, advertising, English, journalism, public relations, or communications degree preferred.
- Two years of related experience in the related industry – this can be in the form of a completed internship or other proven work experience
