Job Title: Buyer
Reports to: Purchasing Manager
Location: 281 Arvin Ave, Stoney Creek, Ontario L8E 2M3
Position Summary: The Buyer is responsible for setting up product lines and programs and negotiating pricing with the supplier. Priorities of the position include: focusing on improving service and product fill rates, maintaining inventory control across the branches, identifying gaps in product lines, sourcing new products, fulfilling branch requests, and communicating changes to the branches.

Actively Supports Branches:
- Responds to inquiries.
- Identifies program specific opportunities.
- Identifies program specific challenges.
- Works with vendors to address Branch concerns.
- Communicates changes in product lines.
- Works together within the Purchasing team to help achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Promotes the Turkstra Mill, Truss Plant, Lawson Lumber, Designer Showcase, and Turkstra Installs as part of our complete company offering.
- Supports the Turkstra Lumber Build-it-Better program.
- Participates in social media opportunities and assists the Marketing Team by providing relevant content for web and social media.
Manages Programs:
- Maintains assigned product departments.
- Implements price changes.
- Replenishes inventory as required.
- Performs scheduled price shops.
- Resolves AP/PO issues.
Administration:
- Effectively plans week to maximize efficiency.
- Continuously works to reduce amount of low value administrative work.
- Properly prepare for meetings.
Training and Development:
- Has an active annual development plan.
- Completes one course per quarter.
- Takes Turkstra University courses.
Department Reviews:
- Reviews assigned departments as scheduled. – Level 2
- Presents review to Purchasing Manager. – Level 2
- Implements agreed upon plan to improve performance. – Level 2
- Manages an annual plan to improve a product category. – Level 4
Vendor Relations:
- Reviews assigned vendors as scheduled. – Level 2
- Presents review to Purchasing Manager. – Level 2
- Works to develop vendor relationships. – Level 2
- Holds vendors accountable for program performance. – Level 2
Inventory Management:
- Inventory adjustments and reporting recurring issues to Director of Operations and Purchasing Manager. – Level 3
- Actively managing inventory reordering (minimum of two warehouse or minor programs). – Level 3
Distribution Centre Management:
- Creates an annual plan to improve the operation of the Distribution Centre. – Level 4
- Sets and ensures that KPIs are being achieved. – Level 4
- Ensures proper service levels to support the branches. – Level 4
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Responsible for any and all other duties as may be required from time to time in accordance with proper training and certification requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school.
- Experience with industry related products and services.
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
- Vocational training is an asset.

Pay: $820.00-$1,395.00 per week
